My main objective on the drive between Dunsmuir and my next destination was The Olive Pit, a specialty store in Corning.

I stopped in for olive tasting, of course. I bought a jar of cream cheese stuffed, and almond stuffed. Plus I also picked up some dried fruits and cinnamon sugar pecans. And a souvenir magnet.
This is definitely a place I want to visit again.
If you enjoy olives, charcuterie, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, candy, or just a fancy grocery store, you should stop here. It is a very convenient turn off from the 5.
Oh those pastel cherries... one of my favorite candies and I would love to have some right now.
While in Corning, visit the giant olive, representing the olive capital of the world.
