Happy Hanukkah!

Hanukkah started earlier than it usually does, in November this year. We had eight nights of potatoes, matzo ball soup, brisket, jelly donuts, games, chocolates, and gifts. And we lit the menorah each night, too.

Black Friday With Friends

Over Thanksgiving weekend, I built my Friends LEGO set of the apartments.

So many pieces!

I also had a marathon of the show playing while I built. The episode with Fun Bobby is one of my favorites.

I had a cheese and meat snack board to munch on while I worked and watched.

I made a salami rose. These boards sure are tasty!

Chandler and Joey sitting in their La-Z-Boy chairs.

It took a couple of days, but I finished the set. I do want more LEGO sets to build. I just need a bigger cave!

Turkey-ish Day

 It is the Thanksgiving holiday.

Mr Duffy and I stopped in at See's Candies earlier in the week to pick up our chocolates for the day.

We picked up our traditional chocolate turkeys. Mr Duffy picked out fall flavored truffles.

We watched the Thanksgiving episodes of Friends.

How did Monica get the fez to stay on the bird?

How did it smell in there???

We watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. There was a Grogu balloon this year!

The scented candles added too our ambience. Yummy pie!

We had delicious cranberry sauce, not the stuff from the can. But I do like when it holds that shape! It was so tasty on croissants.

I experimented with green bean casserole this year. A different recipe, but the guests still liked it.

We also had mashed potatoes and stuffing.

And for the first time this year, we had macaroni and cheese. I didn't know how many people served this, so I added it to the usual spread.

It was a day of tasty foods. Jimmy Fallon from TV said it is the one day in November where no one is planning for Christmas. He's right, my tree was already up!

Coffee Break

I went to the mall to pop into Build A Bear. After shopping there and at the LEGO store, I took a coffee break. I probably won’t get back to the mall this year as I’ll do much of my shopping online.

The Red Cup

Have a cup of cheer. I love Starbucks during the holidays because of their festive cups. Up to this point, I’d been ordering iced coffees, which aren’t decorated.

I did my Thanksgiving shopping and enjoyed a peppermint white mocha while shopping. Happy times!

Psych You Out in the End

Are you a fan of delicious flavor? To celebrate the release of Psych the Movie 3: This Is Gus, I supplied us with pineapple foods to eat while watching my favorite detective show.

I made pineapple teriyaki chicken and shrimp, and served with rice and peas.

And if you thought that I couldn’t possibly have a pineapple costume, you’d be wrong.

Mr Duffy was so excited because he got to eat a very special treat: pineapple pizza! He likes his with pepperoni instead of ham.

We watched all three Psych movies and had a good day. I sure hope they keep making movies!

Chasing an Urban Legend

I had been reading about a supposedly haunted road in Silicon Valley. The legend says there is all manner of unsettling characters who live on Hicks Road in San Jose. So I set out to do some exploring.

Of course I started with some coffee. Starbucks premiered their holiday beverages, so of course I tried the sugar cookie latte. It tasted like a latte that had some sugar sprinkles on top.

I also chose a snowman iced sugar cookie, then headed out.

The drive on Hicks Road is long. It’s beautiful, lined with trees, and it borders parts of Almaden Quicksilver Park. There are areas of lakes and streams. It’s quite peaceful. I didn’t find any quirky characters, but I did see this collection of shoes on a wire. The drive was lovely and I’d be happy to do it again.
