Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Marvel put out a lot of movies this year, including Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Venom, Deadpool 2, Ant-Man and Wasp, and the animated feature, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

When I saw the trailer, I was intrigued but didn't keep the movie in the front of my mind. I had planned on seeing it, of course. I had picked up the first few comics in the series with Miles Morales and I was just a bit familiar with his story.

I was very impressed with the movie. It did have a lot of parts where there were too many strobe effects, and there were also parts that seemed like it was 3D and I wasn't wearing glasses.
But the story was great, really awesome storytelling. The animation and dialogue were both fabulous as well. I was amused by the variety of Spider characters and the parts they played.

You can read this review and check the movie out for yourself. There is a reason why it won the award for best animated film!

Merry Christmas!

I hosted a Christmas party and I was super busy! I made lots of goodies. We had spinach dip with bread.

I also like these cheese logs that have nuts on them, so I served them with crackers.

I like making these appetizer trays. It was a hit!

The kids worked on decorating a gingerbread house together.

Mr Duffy and I wore our ugly holiday sweaters. I think they are actually cute!

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas!

Dinner Downtown

After walking around Cesar Chavez Park looking at the Christmas decorations, I was hungry for some dinner. I went to the Farmers Union which is a nice restaurant downtown.

I ordered the crab cake appetizer which was tasty. The cakes were a bit small for the price, but it is a higher class restaurant.

They were still enjoyable, and it was a special occasion. Christmas!

I had the steak with the garlic and chorizo fries which were fabulous! I just did not like the chimchurri sauce. It is still good food and I would recommend the restaurant for a nice night out in San Jose.

They were decorated with lots of trees, wreaths, and lights. I love how these places get into the holiday spirit!

Christmas in the Park

One of my favorite holiday traditions is attending Christmas in the Park, which is a seasonal even that takes place in downtown San Jose.
One of the famous attractions there is the Snowman Hot Cocoa.

There are hundreds of trees decorated by the community.

There are a lot of displays that have bears in them.

This is Danny the Dinosaur which is a character from the local zoo, Happy Hollow.

The park looks pretty during the day, of course, but it is spectacular all lit up at night.

This display has a working waterfall.

I like how this tree is lit up all blue.

I love this ice skating display. Some bears are playing hockey and others are figure skating.

It has been a long time since I have gone skating. I miss it!

 More bears!

This tree was upside down. How did they do that?

 This dinosaur tree was unique.

I love how many trees there are here. I would love to fill my house and yard with this many decorations!

I liked this Little Mermaid tree.

I did get one of the hot cocoas and it was so comforting.

This was a cute little holiday house.

I thought this sign was very funny.

 Patriotic tree.

 This tree changed colors.

I was amused by this Amazon tree. I wanted one of those tiny boxes.

They had a station where people could write letters to Santa.

This seemed like the biggest Christmas in the Park event ever. There were more trees and more displays. It was so festive and I had a great time.
