Happy St Patrick's Day!

Mr Duffy, Sir Wellington, and I had a lovely St Patrick's Day.

Mr Duffy looked snazzy in his leprechaun outfit.

I had a matching pattern on my dancer's dress.

And Sir Wellington had a matching shamrock bow. We all got into the spirit!

We had a delicious corned beef and cabbage dinner. I tried Irish soda bread for the first time. At first I was skeptical, I do like raisins but only in some recipes. But this was so good, it was like a dessert. We enjoyed our potatoes and other food while watching Waking Ned Devine. I enjoyed the calm, quiet afternoon while wearing my green.

Any holiday that features potatoes on the menu is a great one for me.

Captain Marvel

Ah, the first Marvel movie of the year. I didn't have any information about this character until just a few years ago. A friend gave me a graphic novel about the Carol Danvers version of Captain Marvel. I know that 'Captain Marvel' has a history of being different people, and that the person who is currently Captain Marvel has had a couple of different identities. Confused yet? I might be.

One thing in the movie that is different from the book is this cute little fuzzy critter. In the comics, the cat is named Chewie. In the movie, her name is Goose. And she is definitely my favorite part of the movie.

I really enjoyed the Captain Marvel movie. It did have a bit of a slow start, but it picked up and just got better by the minute. I loved the soundtrack, but I was disappointed that while the main character spent the majority of the movie wearing a Nine Inch Nails shirt, they did not actually have a song in the movie!

I recommend that all lovies go see this movie. There is a lot of action, a bit of comedy, and it sets us up for the grand finale: Avengers Endgame.

If you haven't seen this movie yet, what are you waiting for? And if you have already seen it, go again! And either way, read this spoiler-free review of the movie. Higher, further, faster!

More Clammy Goodness

Today I walked to Half Moon Bay Brewing Company. I knew I wasn't going to get a "brew" because I don't like beer. But I was ready to check out their eats.

They had steamed clams as an appetizer and that sounded tasty. It was!

I shared the garlic bread so I didn't taste it. I'm told it was good. I ordered a burger for lunch and that was going to have a lot of bread, so I didn't want to fill up on the appetizer.

I found this fish on the walk back to the hotel. There is this little indoor shopping center there, but many of the businesses were closed. They even have a taffy and candy shop which I was looking forward to. But it was locked up! So I didn't get any candy this weekend.

I walked back to my hotel and stayed in for the rest of the night. I watched movies and shows and enjoyed just being there.

I do really want to go back to Half Moon Bay, if only to visit their farms and nurseries. I would love to get fresh vegetables, flowers, and maybe a plant or two to have in my house. Until then. happy day.

Half Moon Bay

I was in Half Moon Bay for a conference. I thought it would be nice to make a nice weekend so I stayed in a hotel.
I had an ocean view room. This bay window was in my room and even though the marina was across the highway, I could still see it.

This fancy couch was in my room. I didn't check to see if it opened into a bed. There was plenty of floor space for it.

I had a giant bed that I could roll around in. There was only a sheet and a very thin blanket. They did have an extra in the closet but it still wasn't enough.

I was happy to find that each room includes a microwave and a refrigerator.

This bay window is in the front. It has a nice place to sit to watch the sun set.

This is the bathroom. The shower was so modern that it took a bit of time to figure out how to operate it.

This was quite impressive - a fireplace! With the heat it gave off, I didn't need any extra blankets.

I was ready for a late lunch so I drove down the highway to Sam's Chowder House. Luckily I got a window seat so I could see the people on the beach and watch the waves. That is very relaxing.

They have plenty of outdoor seating on their deck, but it was cold and windy and had been raining, so they didn't have anyone out there.

This is from the same place I was sitting, just the view on the other side.

The cold and gray day made me want a warm beverage. I ordered a soy latte and they gave me this brown sugar cube. It was all soothing and delicious.

I wanted to get their veggie burger but the waitress told me it was made with cheese. She suggested the Manhattan Clam Chowder because it is made with tomato sauce and not milk. And it was SO GOOD.

I sprinkled some oyster crackers on for some crunch.

I saw this guy hanging out in their lobby.

After my lunch, I walked down to the beach to just take in the atmosphere for a bit.

It was so empty because of the weather.

I climbed onto this small pile of big rocks.

This bird was brave for splashing in the water.

I was getting cold and was ready to rest for a bit. I did go for a drive in my warm car, then when I got back to the area, I was ready for dinner.

I always enjoy Chinese food, and this restaurant happened to be open. It was right on Highway 1. I ordered this spicy tofu broccoli dish and it was fantastic.

And I love LOVE noodles so of course I just had to have some veggie chow fun.

And I can never have too many vegetables, so I ordered this plate of super yummy greens.

Dinner was so good that I was absolutely stuffed at the end.

I opened my fortune cookie and it said Determination is what you need now. For what?

I left the restaurant and then settled into my hotel for the night. The fog horn was blowing and it was a relaxing sound. I lit up the fireplace and kicked back. Good night!
