Unhinged Housewarming

The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose hosted a Halloween event.

The event was called Unhinged, and it was a Roaring 20’s party. There were many flapper dresses and soot suits on the guests.

Around the property were some great surprises. Can I lift it?

I’m the cat’s eye.

Yikes! That’s not itsy bitsy.

There were fancy cocktails with glowing ice.

I met fancy people greeting guests outside of the mansion.

That can’t be blood they’re serving… or, is it?

Lots of spooky details.

There are several fountains on the property.

Is it truly haunted here? Let’s investigate.

Are there orbs? Or is it a dirty lens?

This was a fun and thrilling way to open the spooky season.

Favorite Days

 Well, it’s National Coffee Day!

You can brew your own at home, buy a premade blend, or go to a coffee shop.

And what pairs well with coffee? Donuts!

I picked up an iced pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks, then went to a donut shop for some sweet accompaniments.

It’s the best time of the year.

I hope you’ll enjoy a cup today!

Back in Brookdale

I spent the long weekend at the Brookdale Lodge again. I love this town.

This time I stayed in the Marilyn Monroe building. It didn’t have a private balcony, so I stayed inside mostly.

I did enjoy a bit of time looking around. It was mostly a needed getaway. I do love redwood trees.

Santa Cruz Diner

This Labor Day weekend I visited the Santa Cruz area again. I tried the Santa Cruz Diner for the first time.

It was brunch time, so I couldn’t decide on breakfast or lunch.  So I landed on breakfast with clam chowder.

I ordered a vegetarian omelet. It was supposed to be made with cheese. But one person in my group ordered their burger without cheese so it was left out of my food, too.

The clam chowder was okay. Nothing to really write about.

This is a very expensive restaurant for the food they serve. And it took a long time for our waiter to help us and to get our food, despite it not being overly crowded.

I’m glad I tried it, especially since it was a new place for me to taste clam chowder. Next time I’m in the area, I’ll get food on the wharf.
