X-Men: Days of Future Past (No Spoilers)

I went to see X-Men: Days of Future Past and I really enjoyed it. I was fortunate enough to avoid spoilers and was able to really be surprised at characters and situations. The acting and story were great. I really liked seeing the characters as their current ages and younger selves. When I saw certain things in the trailer, I wondered how those things would be explained, and the writers and director did a great job with the story telling. Magneto is my favorite character. He isn't a simple villain. He has a very sad history and one can easily empathize with him. I like complicated villains and Magneto has so many layers that it's great to watch him. I never know how he is going to handle a situation, or who he will side with when in a certain situation.
There aren't any X-Men related shirts or costumes at Build-A-Bear Workshop, so I had to make one of my own.

Happy Birthday To Me!

I am 7 years old! I've been so lucky to live such a fortunate life. I've been to Disneyland, movies, on an airplane, camping, Hollywood, a baseball game, and so many other places.
I'm still experiencing new things and traveling to new places. Here's to many more years of coffees, chocolates, days at the beach, new books, and adventures.

Big Wow Comic Fest

This weekend is Big Wow Comic Fest in San Jose. It's a comic book convention like others. Vendors are there to sell comics, toys, and other memorabilia. There are fan tables to recruit new members to their groups. People of all ages are dressed in costume. And there is a lot of excitement among attendees.
There are so many talented costume designers. This man combined Wolverine with a Mandalorian and he calls himself 'Bubb Fett'.
Ivy Doomkitty was actually very nice. I think she didn't want to take a scary picture with a cuddly teddy.
Henry Jones, Senior, and Henry 'Indiana' Jones were there! That was very exciting. You know how much I love the Indiana Jones franchise.
There was a section of the con that was the Batman museum. The Batmobile was parked there. Awesome!
I saw a few Doctors walking around, but I could only stop the 10th one for a photo. I think the others jumped in the TARDIS and vanished before I could reach them.
Who you gonna call? I'm going to call for takeout. It's dinner time.
I love warm hugs! Luckily I saw Anna gliding around, and Olaf gave me a few warm hugs. It was a happy moment.
Okay, cue the Imperial March.
I went through the Batman museum for a second time to look closer at some of the memorabila. There are some great toys and collectibles from over the years.
Captain America was quite popular. Many people were dressed in variations of Cap's outfits, a lot of people had the shield backpack, and there were a lot of people in Captain America shirts and hoodies. He is probably the most popular Avenger.
This was the money shot right here.
I found a page about Ted the Ewok and his geeky adventures. I've been following for a short time. It's so awesome to see other bears traveling, dressing up, and accompanying grown humans. So I was really excited to see that he was at Big Wow! Of course I wanted to meet him in person.
This was my first "con" and I had a great time! I bought only one book because it is very over-stimulating and I was overwhelmed. I just really liked meeting people, watching people, and talking and making new friends. I can't wait to go to another one! Great day!

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD

I watched all of the episodes of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD this season. I have enjoyed the stories and characters. Things really got wild when the story intertwined with the events from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It's been fun to see some of the other characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and to hear their names mentioned. I wonder what the writers have in store for us next season. We won't know until fall.
I am a member of the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division. Or I just dress like one. Hail Hydra or Stand With SHIELD?

Happy Hour!

At Starbucks now through May 10, 2014, it is Happy Hour from 3-5 PM. During this time, all Frappuccinos are half off. Great deal! I enjoy the soy mocha one.

May the Fourth Be With You

May 4th is known as International Star Wars Day. 'May the Fourth (Force) Be With You' is a popular saying on this day. It combines a line from the movie and the date.
I wore my Jedi costume that I bought from Build-A-Bear.
Duffy wore the Anakin costume, also from Build-A-Bear.
We went to a Star Wars club event. They put on a picnic and barbecue at a park. It was a lot of fun. We played games, had good food, and chatted with the people. Happy Star Wars Day!

Free Comic Book Day

The first Saturday in May is Free Comic Book Day. It is an opportunity for comic shops to attract new customers, to promote literacy, and to give artists and writers some exposure. Stores encourage customers to dress up in costume, or at least something that is related to superheroes or comic book characters.
Duffy chose to wear a Spider-Man shirt.
I went with Iron Man.
There are many comic book stores all over the Bay Area and California. I chose to go to Illusive Comics in Santa Clara. I am so glad I did! They know how to put on an event! They had some character greeters who looked like the real thing. Iron Man was there. I was too shy to ask for a photo with him. They also had some food trucks and food carts for people waiting in line. And they were doing raffles and had some awesome sales.
This store is so much fun. What most stores do on FCBD is they limit 1-3 free titles per person, or they may let a person choose how many free titles based on how many regular ones they purchase. This particular store raises funds for autism research and local organizations. What they do is sort the comics by age: all ages, teen, and adult. There are three tables. If you donate $5, you can get one of each title. That is an amazing deal. $5 for a whole bunch of new comics and they get to raise funds for a non-profit. Everybody wins! I donated at all three tables and picked up most of the titles. I am going to have some fun reading these.
The loot. Lots of well-known characters and new stories. I think I am going to start a few new stories because of this. There are so many great artists and storytellers out there.
Sitting on the pile of comics, that's quite a generous stack!
In addition to my donation, I also bought a few little figurines that were just so cute. I am definitely going back to this store when I am in the area and will support them, because they obviously support their customers and the community.

Amazing Spider-Man 2

A spolier-free review!
Amazing Spider-Man 2 was, well, amazing! I went in without any expectations and was able to enjoy it more because of that. I don't like to pre-judge because that can really affect my perspective. When I go to a movie, I go wanting to be entertained. I don't want to pick apart every scene, every detail. Marvel stories are great, and Spider-Man is an iconic character. I saw the first trilogy that starred Tobey Maguire and I only thought it was amusing. It didn't keep me from giving this series a try. I liked the first one, and I liked this one.
This movie had a great mix of action, comedy, and drama. The casting was great with good jokes and nice moments. Andrew and Emma have great on-screen chemistry. Sally Field was a good casting choice for Aunt May. I really liked Electro. He was a sympathetic villain. I liked his character and thought Jamie Foxx did a great job.
There were some intense scenes, and some cubs may become scared with some of the action. Some of the things that happened were necessary to advance the story. The music was great. Great job, cast and crew!
