Driving the Avenue

Due to many of the recent atmospheric rivers, and with the current storm, many parts of the Avenue of the Giants were closed. Some had downed trees, other parts were flooded.

In 1964, there was flooding from the winter storms. It's really something to see when you look at the marker, just how high the water level was.

Tip: when taking photos of trees, look from different angles. This was looking straight up to the tree tops.

We love those redwoods. Forest bathing is good for your health.

There are so many places along the avenue for camping, stretching, or resting. Just be aware that many attractions are closed in the winter.

Mr Duffy is always fascinated by the trees that show what historical events happened during the life of the tree. Some of them were here over two thousand years ago!

A lot of these roadside attractions are unique and unfortunately have struggled since the extended closures in 2020. Please, if you can, give them your business. Even if you just pick up a magnet and a soda, that helps!
