Vino e Formaggio

 One of my favorite days of the year is National Wine and Cheese Day.

Being a California native, I do prefer a local wine, whether from the famous Napa Valley or the Central Coast, or any other place in the state with rolling vineyards.

I am also a fan of local cheeses. California is the supreme state for cheese, as we have won all of the top awards for many years now.

I love a good red wine, with cabernet sauvignon as my favorite.

My favorite food group - cheese!

Shark Week

 

This is one of Mr Duffy's favorite times of the year. Shark Week!

We watched the Impractical Jokers Shark Week special.

I even got a new buddy for Mr Duffy!

Mr Duffy was fine staying n and watching shark programs. I convinced him to not actually go to catch a shark in person.

This shark is friendly enough, and he won't treat you like a snack.

I found these great party supplies because you know I love a good theme party.

Is there anything in this pinata?

Maybe some shark gummies!

We bought this book because it's an entertaining story and the artwork is cute.

We love our science and our parties.

National Junk Food Day

 

July is a good month for food holidays.

It is junk food day! Eat all the fried things and sweet things.

I do love my chips. Classic potato is my favorite. Fritos are best for dips. I also like sour cream, barbecue, kettle... if it is crispy and a potato or corn, I want to try it.

Candy is a must. Especially chocolate. This sure is worth a hundred grand!

And the cheese de resistance... I mean piece... I mean. CHEESE! Although one could argue it is a health food rather than a junk food.

Yes, I realize the hilarity of wearing workout clothes while I eat. Hey, every time I lift a snack, I'm getting movement.

Hot Dog!

National Hot Dog Day is celebrated on the third Wednesday in July.

Instead of just the basic condiments, this year I went for it. I had macaroni and cheese, potato salad, and onion rings as new additions to standards such as chili.

You don't have to stick with just a classic hot dog; tofu, turkey, and even carrots can make a hot dog.

Ketchup vs mustard: a nation divided.

Quite possibly the best junk meal ever: chili mac hot dog!

You also don't need to stick with a standard bun. You can use tortillas, croissants, or even a leaf of collard greens as a wrap.

 This is definitely one of my favorite food days. Eat up!

I Scream... for Ice Cream!

 

It's National Ice Cream Day. There are too many great flavors to eat. Why stop at one?

Thank you to friends like milkshake for helping on this day.

I am ready for coffee ice cream. No, mint chocolate chip. Butter brickle. Cookie dough. I don't know!!!

A Teddy Picnic

 Teddy Bear Picnic Day is a day of fuzzy fun, celebrated every year on July 10th.

Grab a teddy, or two, or ten, or every one you have, and get outside for a day of fun!

 

Be sure to pack favorite foods your teddies love.

Find a good picnic spot. A local park, or a patch of grass with some trees is a good place.

Set up a blanket, bring some picnic chairs.

It is a beautiful day!

Bring a fun activity, like a ball for tossing and catching, or bubbles to pop.

Candy bears are fun.

We teddies love our snacks. Most bears aren't picky about their snacks. Especially if it is sweet, it's a favorite treat. But we also like salty, crunchy things.

Rumbletum likes Fritos.

There really aren't any limitations to what kinds of food to eat on a picnic. Some parks provide grills so you can have a barbecue. It is easy to bring prepared foods. I like the standard fare - fried chicken, potato salad, macaroni salad, fruit, and chips.

There were a lot of teddies, so we had a lot of food.

Don't forget to bring dips for your chips!

Looks like someone who is not a teddy sneaked into our party.

Of course all plushies are welcome to enjoy a teddy bear picnic. As are humans. Ask your favorite human to take you on a picnic today!
