Pride!

Silicon Valley Pride takes place in Downtown San Jose.

It is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ population.

The Qmunity is very near the parade route.

Many different organizations and businesses participate in the parade.

This is the public transportation bus.

Lots of dancing people waving flags!

This is the San Jose Fire Department. Their truck looks like a shark because our local NHL hockey team is the San Jose Sharks.

That is San Jose's mayor, Sam Liccardo.

This is Zoe Lofgren, our area congressperson.

A very cool bus! Is it full of surfers headed towards the beach?

It was another fun event. I am glad it was able to take place this year.

New Cookbooks!

Going to the bookstore is one of my favorite things to do. Today, I enjoyed a pumpkin spice latte and browsed Barnes & Noble.

I wanted to add to my cookbook collection. I found a lot of great ones with delicious looking recipes. I’ll be trying some out very soon.

North Coast Nature

Much of the north coast is redwoods. I do enjoy trees, so any time I can be near them, I like to appreciate them.

I don't even know what Mr Duffy was looking at.

Trees!

This just makes me want to go camping.

Very near our hotel was this beautiful ocean-themed sculpted art piece.

We went on a nature walk behind our hotel. I only saw birds.

This was a very dreary, gloomy weekend.

Part of the Gualala Bluff Trail passed behind our hotel.

This is the front of where we stayed.

This was a very interesting color for a shrub.

Pretty flowers!

There were nice things to look at. But this really is a place to just drive through and not stay. It is very isolated and there is very little internet connection. If you like to be in contact with civilization, maybe try Fort Bragg in the northern part of the state.

Wa-La-La!

After a four hour drive, we arrived at our hotel in Gualala, a tiny town in Mendocino County on the coast. We stayed at Hotel Breakers.

Each room is themed to a country. We stayed in the Ireland room.

There was a king size bed.

There was a standard closet in the entryway, which is nice to keep stuff out of the way.

They had a decently sized TV at a desk. Inside the desk was a mini refrigerator.

They had a fireplace, but it was a classic one. It required wood and matches! We usually have gas places.

The room was decorated with posters of Ireland, and it had books in the room, too.

There was a coffee machine with coffee, and also a microwave which is a great convenience.

The bathroom was spacious with a big shower, but no tub.

We wanted to relax on the bed, but we had plans to meet some people.

I wanted to try out the chair.

Mr Duffy said it was nice, but not a good chair for gaming.

Ireland books!

This was the view from our room. We had a balcony, and there were seats with cushions and a table. If we had more time, we would have loved to have morning coffee out there.

Fact: Gualala is pronounced like wa-LA-la.
