Springtime Picnic

We are now in a mental health recovery after spending more than a year at home, inside. We have missed sunshine, fresh air, nature, and moving our bodies.

Today was a great day for a picnic. The sun was shining and flowers were blooming.

I know the orange flowers are California poppies. One of my humans believes the purple is a licorice plant.

In years past, I might not  have taken the time to really look at smaller trees and any greenery in city parks. Now I have a new appreciation for it.

This park has a creek and a foot bridge that crosses it.

Quack!

In the pond at the end of the creek were a bunch of fish.

This duck might have been contemplating lunch.

Running water is so soothing.

More flowers!

It was quiet, a great time to think and just take in the environment.

We climbed a big rock we found, but the baby was struggling a bit.

We put a blanket on the grass and played a game of Connect Four.

Yummy, colby jack cheese.

I love the availability of fresh fruit. Look at all those berries!

A big bowl of crunchy, crispy, juicy grapes is a favorite snack.

The baby was bogarting the chips.

This squirrel was there to greet our arrival.

It was so good for all of us to get out for a while. We needed the air, the sun, the breeze, the nature, and the quiet. Being out in nature is such a vital part of good health, and so few of us spend enough time outdoors. Get out there, let the sun warm your skin, fill your lungs with fresh air, and appreciate the beauty of the flora and fauna.
