A big and successful industry in California is wine. So even though we were in Gold Country, we visited a vineyard to taste the state's liquid gold.
We reserved a wine tasting at Lucchesi Vineyards. It is in a remote area of Grass Valley, but still not too far. There are a lot of one way, one lane roads in and out of the area.
Our wine steward met us at the main room and led us up to the outdoor tasting area, which looked over the vineyard.
He sat us down and gave us glasses and immediately started pouring our free tasting.
Oh, that view.
We tried a variety of whites.
We sampled a rose, which I don't usually care for,but this one was tasty.
Then we moved onto the reds.
I bought three bottles, one of a sparkling, one port, and a red.
Mr Duffy liked the dessert wines.
This was a beautiful and enjoyable way to spend Valentine's Day.
