Pacific Grove Day 1

I just under about ninety minutes, we were in Monterey. I have been to the area many times, but had never been to Pacific Grove, even though it is right next to the aquarium.

We checked into our hotel. The Sea Breeze Inn, and it was a nice little room.

The big was big enough for all three of us to roll over, roll over, but not fall over.

This kitchenette was in the room. That was very exciting, there were two stovetop burners, a refrigerator with freezer, and a microwave. They also had a toaster and coffee maker, and all of the pots, pans, utensils, and dishes one would need to cook and serve meals. And there was a lot of cabinet space, too.

This is a glass table in the corner. Our room only looked over the parking lot. But when you have not been in any other room for over a year, just looking at a different lot is exciting.

This was very exciting: a fireplace! It gets quite cold in Pacific Grove, even in the summer, because it is on the coast. All of the bay breezes plus coastal fog keeps the temperatures comfortable cold, making it a great escape from the hotter parts of California.

The bathroom was standard.

Right now, there is a mask mandate where masks are required indoors and outdoors everywhere. If you are caught without one, there is a $100 fine.

I wanted to take a look at the property, but there wasn't much to it. Now most people probably use their room to sleep at night, and probably do a lot of touring and exploring during the day. And since it gets cold, and being that there are plenty of beaches for swimming, they don't have a pool.

This fountain didn't have any water running. I do enjoy fountains, and was only slightly bummed about this one being dry, except for the possible rain water collected in the basin.

Pretty purple flowers!

This is a fire pit they have near the entrance to the property. It wasn't running, and that might be due to physical distancing. It is probably a very nice place to gather otherwise.

I brought along plenty of snacks. It was chip and dip day, so along with those things, I brought fruit and veggies, meats and cheeses. It was a party!

I also brought along some wine and champagne. I found a Califia-sized bottle of bubbly.

We stayed in the room to relax and just have a different place to be. Mr Duffy did some gaming, and I watched some travel documentaries. We ordered Bubba Gump food delivered to our room. We had hot clam chowder, and fish and chips.

It was so much food. And it was good. Now, it would have been nicer to eat at the restaurant, and we will dine indoors again probably in the summer.

That was our first day, so much enjoying the drive, and falling in love with the coast and trees all over again. It was very romantic, and it felt just so good to be away. And my travel companions were perfect. The humans and the lovies, all.
