Mr Duffy and I woke up very early so we could get to the airport. We were flying to Los Angeles. Our final destination is New York, but there weren't any direct flights that we wanted. So we thought we would fly to Southern California for two days before heading to the East Coast.
Mr Duffy was up very late gaming and he should have gotten some sleep. So he was really tired and because of that, he slept on the plane. So I was awake and got to eat his pretzels. "You snooze, you lose!" 😂
I had the window seat which I really enjoy because I like trying to guess where we are. It is fun to figure out location by landmarks or bodies of water.
Take-off is so much fun! It feels like a roller coaster when we pick up so much speed and then, whoosh! In the air.
Bye, San Jose! See you in a couple of weeks!
My tummy was a bit fuzzy so I didn't get my usual Diet Dr Pepper. Instead I got some seltzer water. I do love those bubbles.
And I got to eat all the pretzels myself. Duffy was snoozing away in the overhead bin where he had dark and quiet.
I did my usual tradition of doing something funny with my pretzels.
We were staying with family so we went to their house and brought in our bags. We went to Hollywood to see a movie, but I didn't get pictures because it was so crowded and we wanted to just get out of there. But I will do another Hollywood trip one day.

East of Paso Robles
On the way home from our trip, we took a detour on SR-41 that connects I-5 to 101. It goes through the town of Cholame, which is notorious for an event that happened decades ago.
He was also an avid sports car driver, and his philosophy of "Live fast, die young" (not a Dean quote) was a self-fulfilling prophecy.
On his way to Salinas, he was stopped by an officer for speeding. After the warning, he sped off again, and that was his fatal mistake. He died in a crash in Cholame, on what is now known as James Dean Memorial Highway. There is a marker near the site of the crash, and an ongoing dedication where fans leave flowers, gifts, and notes for him.
At the site of the memorial is a diner where they have the usual diner fare such as burgers and fries, other fried foods, and milkshakes. It is also a small James Dean memorial of sorts where they sell souvenirs along with good food.
Visit the James Dean Memorial Crash Site on your way through San Luis Obispo County.

SDCC Day Four
On this last day, I wore my Athena costume. Mythology comes up in many comics and other areas of pop culture. And look who I ran into: Megara and Hades! It was perfect!
This was a clever family, a small Pacman was being chased by these ghosts.
I did some shopping for people back at home. There was a request for Fantastic Four books, so I bought some.
For lunch, I ate in the cafe. For the cost of the food, it was actually a very good portion. The carne asada fries were enough, I didn't even need to eat the California burrito that I ordered.
What I like about the California burrito is that there are french fries inside.
This was a clever frame for the painting, it is the front of a train. There are so many creative people out there.
Sunday is always the shortest full day, and people start winding down or even leaving early to get home. I stayed until they announced that SDCC 2019 was over. I was leaving to get back home the next day, so I had to get back to pack all of my goodies up.
SDCC was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to going next year. I am already planning my costumes!
