California Academy of Sciences - Part One

San Francisco has its own natural history museum. The California Academy of Sciences has been around for many decades.

You could easily spend an entire day here and not see everything there is to see.

There is an education center which is very hands on. They have videos, books, and interactive exhibits for learning about animals that have lived in the region throughout history.

Mr Duffy loves all things science, and he had a great time visiting.

Some people in the scientific community want to bring the dodo back from extinction, but is that a good idea? It is a cute animal, sure. But did you see Jurassic Park?

Mr Duffy thinks this sounds like it would be fun. But where would it end?

We love fossils. Learning about our natural history, going back to the dinosaurs, and even earlier is something we both enjoy.

I don't want to know.

So fun! This stuff is so fascinating.

There is a whole section devoted to gemstones. I loved looking at the shiny rocks, stones, jewels.

I love how they offer so many things to be hands-on. It is a great way to learn about who we are, and gives insight in to how we got here. But, where are we going?

Another exhibit they have is all about bugs. Now, they didn't have any living ones. But they did have places where humans and teddies could "become" bugs and creep through the grass.

I'm reminded of the Pixar movie, A Bug's Life.

I'm craving a snack. Is it honey time? No. Wait. I'm craving honey, is it snack time?

Honey is great, but it would also be amazing to find Nutella in nature.

This was not my lunch.

Something Mr Duffy and I both found amusing was the dino in the lobby was wearing a mask. Safety first!

Of course the museum takes safety protocols safely. It is a science museum, after all. Great minds, research, and education!

Red, White, and Blue

My favorite part of most holidays is the food. And I love coordinating the colors, flavors, and shapes with the holiday.

Plus, I also like to dress for the occasion. I like this blue blouse with the red and white stars.

I ordered several desserts, including these mini brownies.

The cupcakes were chocolate, with red and white frosting, and patriotic candy stars.

In addition to the red, white, and blue Sour Patch Kids, I also got M&Ms.

Frosted sugar cookies!

And we had Americana Swedish Fish, too.

So many tasty treats to celebrate the 4th. God Bless America. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🗽
