Officially San Diego!

After driving from Los Angeles, through Orange County and a stop at Calafia Beach, I made it to San Diego. One of the first things I did was walk across the Spruce Street suspension bridge.

The bridge was a bit wobbly but that made it exciting.

The bridge crossed a small canyon. I wasn't scared to be up that high. I love adventure!

After a round trip on the bridge, I took a quick walk through of Balboa Park.

There are some fun statues for teddies to climb.

I think it is amusing when bike racks are shaped like bikes.

One of my favorite things about Balboa Park is they have a lot of fountains.

There are sixteen museums in the park. These art installations are just outside their art museum.

And here is their giant fountain.

It's pretty at night, but I am sure it looks even more awesome during the day.

After all of that travel, it was time to get to my lodging and to bed. My next day was going to be super busy.

Calafia Beach!

Imagine my excitement when I found there is a road named Ave Calafia! Now, I know it isn't the same spelling, but it was still so fun to see!

And what is at the end of Avenue Calafia???
 Calafia Beach!!!
This is one of those typical southern California beaches you see in the movies. Full of colorful umbrellas and towels, and lots of people playing in the sand and water.

There is a wall of rocks that separate the grade where a train runs.
I asked the life guard permission before taking this photo. She was happy to help!
At Calafia Beach they have the Calafia Cafe!

I ordered their fish and chips which actually filled me up before I could finish it. That is unusual for me when I can't finish all of my fries.

Calafia is part of San Clemente, which is in Orange County. That is one county known for its famous beaches.

I didn't go in the water this time, but I did get to relax a bit and really take in the view. All I wanted was to just go to a place with my name.

San Diego, Here I Come!

Of all the big regions in California, the San Diego area is the last one on my list to visit. I still have a bit of the Imperial Valley, but this was the big city that I have been wanting to go to for so long.
The reason for my trip was to attend San Diego Comic Con, as well as some other things in the area. Pikachu was my travel buddy for this trip.

I didn't get on a plane for this trip, so it was in a car I went. I have been up and down Interstate 5 so many times, that this is an easy drive for me.

I made a couple of quick stops, but spent the most time at Bravo Farms in Kettleman City.
I wasn't sure if this bird thing was real or not, so I didn't stick around long enough to find out.

Desert skulls freak me out, so why did I pose in front of one?

There is a long, giant store as part of the cute old west town. They have a section for candy. And they had lollipops! Yum!

They have an ice cream counter where you can get samples. I had a cake flavored ice cream. They have one flavored like wine. I had it last time I was there, so I decided to try a different flavor.

In the back of the property, they have a playground that has cute little buildings themed to the old west.

 Cow.

Whee!

 Uh-oh! Someone's in trouble!

This fountain didn't have water in it. But I think this is the desert.

Inside the shops, they have some fun things to look at and climb on. But only for teddies.

It was well over 100° so I wanted to get back in the air conditioned car so I could make my way to my first destination, Los Angeles.
