Shopping At the Marketplace

We started our day shopping at the Build-A-Bear in the marketplace.

They have some items exclusive to Knott's.

We then looked in the other gift shops. We found an old friend.

I guess our old friend Sasquatch is all over the place.

I was happy to visit this old bear. A great reunion.

This is Belle who is Snoopy's sister.

And one of my best buddies, Charlie Brown. We may be related - we share a last name!

All of that shopping made us hungry. So where do we eat when we are there?

Knott's! More chicken!

Starting with the salad, of course.

Will we be able to eat the pie this time?

We had to walk off all the morsels of our big lunch. That took us to the bakery.

We also had to stop in the candy store, Of course!

They have a lot of boysenberry flavored treats!

And of course my all-time favorite: lollipops!

I love candy.

I got back to the hotel and met all of my new friends from Build-A-Bear.

I bought a chocolate bar and a lollipop cover with ring. I love it! Do they have these at Great America?

It was a productive morning and early afternoon. So I had to nap because I had a big evening planned.

A Good Start

Before heading out for the day, Mr Duffy and I had some fruit and muffins.

A great thing about being in California is the access to all of the fresh fruits.

Coffee down, now it is time to shop!

Boysenberry Pie

Full of chicken and soup and salad and corn and mashed potatoes, Mr Duffy and I were stuffed. We settled in to our room, unpacked, and digested.

We put on the television and found that Three's Company was playing. It is a classic (very old) show that is hilarious. One of the comedic greats of his time, John Ritter, was the star. One of the great gags of the show is that his charaster, Jack Tripper, is always falling, crashing, or otherwise in some kind of comedic physical danger. Is that why his last name is Tripper?

Our fried chicken made its way to make room for pie. PIE! Pie time!

You can only get real boysenberry pie like this at Knott's.

Lucky for me, Mr Duffy doesn't have a raging sweet tooth. He tasted the crust and a smidge of fruit, then left the rest for me. He's a keeper.

Good thing we are here until Sunday, I must get all the boysenberry things! And I will do my best to not pull an Eric Cartman while I am here.

Knott's Hotel

For this part of our vacation, Mr Duffy and I stayed at the Knott's Hotel. 🧸🧸🧸

They had boysenberry toiletries, which would have netted them the five bear rating.

There was also a sofa couch, which is always a nice bonus.

Beautiful decor accented the walls.

There was a chair with a small table. This was great for eating chicken and pie in the room.

They had a large television with many channels. They also had a refrigerator and coffee maker.

The bed was big and comfy with nice pillows.

The bathroom was standard with a modern mirror in which the light settings could be changed with a touch on the glass.

This hotel is newly renovated. Its proximity to Knott's Berry Farm and property attractions is outstanding. And it is super conveniently located near the major freeways, beaches, and only five miles away from Disneyland. It should have received five bears; however, the staff were rude, arrogant, and unhelpful. If you put the "do not disturb" sign on the door, they let themselves in because they think that sign means the guests inside are up to no good. It was very upsetting to deal with that. They also do not allow any deliveries direct to the guest rooms, which I have never dealt with in any of my travels, and I have been to many hotels and resorts. Policy is one thing, but customer service is everything. Should I choose to visit Buena Park again, I will likely be staying somewhere else. And since the park is only five miles from Disneyland, well...

"The skin's the best part!" At Mrs Knott's

Whenever you visit the Marketplace at Knott's Berry Farm, you must pose with the giant chicken.

Good thing chickens don't fly. If this one took off, it would be terrifying!

Mr Duffy and I had been dreaming about eating fried chicken for weeks before our trip.

The greatest place in the world for fried chicken is at Mrs Knott's Restaurant in Buena Park.

"Hey, Duffy, look over there!" He did look away, but it wasn't enough time to swipe the chicken.

The dinner starts with a thick, creamy chicken noodle soup.

And there is a delicious salad. Oh, I will be too stuffed for pie at this rate.

All meals are served with warm, flaky biscuits and boysenberry jam.

There were these murals of succulents on the wall.

There were also some farming tools for decoration.

I am usually all for Diet Dr Pepper as my soda of choice. But when at Knott's, it has to be boysenberry punch!

Mr Duffy and I enjoyed the food. But like I predicted, we didn't have room for boysenberry pie! Gotta take it to our hotel room.
