Thank You, Stan Lee

What can I say about Stan Lee?

Whether it has been watching and reading about characters and stories he created...

Or watching as he made hilarious cameos in Marvel movies...

He has had a huge impact on my life.

I am so glad I got to be a fan of his work, his legacy.

I am happy that his work gets to live on, and his characters get to live on.

It will be sad to see him in his next Marvel cameo.

But it will be even more heartbreaking when he is no longer making cameos.

I am grateful for all of the memories because of him.

Thank you, Stan. I hope you are at peace in your good place. I know you are there.

It's the Most Wonderful Time...

Did you think I was already going to start posting about Christmas? You wouldn't be too far off, I do love Christmas and I get started right after the last trick-or-treater leaves my porch.

But this isn't about Christmas. It is about National Candy Day. Yes, it is really a thing. And you know me and how much I LOVE my sweets!
This holiday comes just after Halloween, so I always have plenty of candy on hand for celebrating.

Did you know: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are one of the most popular candies sold in the US? Chocolate and peanut butter is a delicious combination.

The other top selling candy in the US is M&Ms chocolate candies. I like that they have special holiday colors for the different days. Red and green for Christmas, red, white, and blue for 4th of July, pink and purple for Easter, and more!

I am under a blanket of treats.

I had this gigantic kiss. I don't know if you can tell from it sitting in my paw, but it is a lot bigger than the regular size! It's great to give someone you REALLY love!

Tootsie Rolls are a favorite of mine, I like how they are chewy. And then they get nice and soft if you clench them in your paw for several seconds.

Do you like candy corn? It seems like half the people I know love it, and the other half hate it.
I didn't want to stay at home on this holiday, and I figured a great way to celebrate was to go to a candy store. So I went to Lolli and Pops which is a classic candy store. It is a high end store, so I am conservative with my purchases. But  I do treat myself when I am there!

They have endless bins of gummies and other candies.

And also the biggest assortment of PEZ I have ever seen.

There are also dozens of bins of sour candies. I like the ones that are a combination of sweet and sour.

There are also a lot of chocolates in the bins, too. I like the chocolate covered cherries, and things like turtles and toffees.

I won't buy classic movie theater candy here because it is very pricey, and available everywhere.

This huge bear sits on top of the gummy bear bins.

At the end, I bought under a pound of loose candies, most of which were sour. I took my candy with me to see Bohemian Rhapsody, which is a fantastic film that I loved. Go see it!

Dia de los Muertos

This year, I wanted to learn about Dia de los Muertos which is a holiday where some people of Mexican descent and other Latino cultures honor their relatives who are no longer living.

One of the customs is for people to paint their faces to make bad spirits think they are already dead, and this will prevent the spirits from taking the living.

It may seem like a sad celebration, but it is to honor lost loved ones, recall happy memories, and remember the love and good times.

Happy Halloween!

And now, for the best part of this day...

 Pumpkins! And...
 wait for it...
My bucket was nearly full of good candy, things like Tootsie Roll Pops, Skittles, and assorted chocolate bars. All good stuff. But just because Halloween is over, doesn't mean the candy goes away.

Winchester Mystery House

Hey, guess how I started my day?

With an iced pumpkin spice latte, of course! I am the Pumpkin Spice Princess, after all.

I made my way to the Winchester Mystery House so I could look at it all decorated for Halloween.

They had some pretty photo spots.

This is the front entrance to the mansion.

I like how they stacked the pumpkins to look like snowmen.

There were jack-o-lanterns and pumpkins spread around. It was very festive.

I really like the wreath, it can stay up throughout fall.

These guys are peering out the window, I wonder if they see strange things at night.

Inside the gift shop, they had another photo spot. This was in front of their Halloween tree, which I think is an awesome idea. I have had some in the past and they are so fun!

This is a beautiful property and they offer a few different tours. They decorate for Christmas, so I will be back for a visit then.
