Warm, Delicious Goodness

Do you like a warm, flaky croissant? Buttery, with a cup of coffee or cocoa? Just the thought is comforting.

I am not always able to get fresh croissants, and that is okay. Because many bakeries, even grocery store ones, sell them. This is great for making sandwiches at home.

A variety of spreads taste good on a warm croissant, like Nutella, jam, peanut butter, honey, or butter. I like mine plain, or with chocolate. And I like almond ones, too.

Ah, such an indulgent way to start the day, but it is necessary to treat yo self.

Enjoy a fresh, warm croissant today!

Puzzle Me This

It's National Puzzle Day! I love jigsaw puzzles. Well, many types of puzzles like word search, brain teasers, and Tetris.

There are jigsaw puzzles for just about anyone's favorite hobbies, movies, animals, sports teams, foods, places, and more. I am happy to have this Friends one, but would really be amused to have one of scenes from Frasier.

In what has to be the most popular character of all time, there is a puzzle of The Child, or as some people say Baby Yoda.

I have a nice stack of puzzles because I always like to have something to do.

This is a puzzle keeper that is very similar to an art portfolio. You can work your puzzle right on the board, and when you want to put it away, you fold the flaps and can move it. It is great because you can work on the table, and move your unfinished puzzle to put food out. You can store it under a bed or up against the wall. And it holds your pieces in place. This is a great item for any puzzle enthusiast.

I tend to do a lot of puzzles in winter when it is too cold and wet to be outside, and in summer when it is too hot to be outside. Any time is puzzle time.

Chocolate Cake

Chocolate cake isn't my favorite. I like yellow cake and white cake. I also like brownies. But chocolate cake, to me, is too dry and dark. But every now and then I will take a bite. At the very least, it is pretty. And with it being National Chocolate Cake Day, I had to have at least a tiny bit.

 And it smells good, too!

Oops! Got some on my paw! Guess I have to lick it off.

I enjoy baking, and cake is one of the things I make. I also like decorating cakes, but I don't have a whole lot of experience. I will just have to practice.

This cake was decent, moist enough with a good flavor. But I would much rather celebrate white cake day.

LEGO Play Time

Mr Duffy and I wanted to build a LEGO set together.

We decided on the Millennium Falcon.
We knew we had a long day ahead of us, putting hundreds of bricks together.
This was a big instruction book.
We weren’t sure how we would divide up the work.

But, we did it! It took many hours, and in the end, we had a great set for playing.

There were so many bags!

National Peanut Butter Day

Peanut butter can be a great snack. You can spread it on bread, celery, chocolate, and more.

I enjoy Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I like the milk chocolate coating the crumbly yet creamy peanut butter filling.

 Delicious!

Nutter Butter is a peanut butter cookie, with the flavor in the cookie and the filling.

I prefer creamy over crunchy. I like to eat it with jelly in a sandwich, and I also like to spread it with Nutella. Yum!

It's My Cherry Pie

According to the fun holiday calendars, there are a few pie days every year. Today was the first of a number of National Pie days.

My favorite sweet pies are cherry and fresh peach. Today I picked cherry.

Is there any better way to enjoy pie than with watching some Supernatural?

That is all the pie for now. Until March 14th!

A Hug a Day

Today is National Hugging Day. Some people say it is just Hug Day. The origin is for the act of hugging. But a piece of trivia: a group of teddy bears is known as a hug.

It is nice to give your close friends and family a hug. It is also healthy. Giving a hug is an intimate act that releases bonding hormones that make you feel good. It is why it is so important for cubs to be held by their mommas when they are very young.

I love hugging my boyfriend, Mr Duffy. He is very snuggly and I feel loved and protected when he is affectionate with me.

You can also hug your pets. It can help to ease anxiety. My dog, Sir Wellington, sometimes gets scared, especially of birds. I give him hugs to make him feel safe.

I am here to give you a hug, if you want one.

Cheese Please!

I have been wanting to buy my own fondue pot for some time. And there's likely no better day than National Cheese Lover's Day.

There are many types of cheese, and plenty of foods and snacks made with or flavored like cheese. I like many of them.

My favorite cheeses are colby jack and fresh mozzarella. I like it on pizza, in a grilled cheese sandwich, as a cheddar soup, and in many other ways. I also enjoy pairing it with wine.

To make your own fondue, you need to shred your favorite cheeses. You might want to save time by buying pre-shredded, but there is an anti-caking agent used to keep the shreds from clumping in the bag. It diesn't take long at all, and it's not too much work.

How will you be celebrating this day? What is your favorite cheese?

Pop Pop Popcorn!

Today we celebrate the kernel. A high-fiber, whole grain snack. Popcorn!

Popcorn is one of those snacks that really adds to a visit to a theme park, watching a good movie, or quenching a crunchy, salty craving.

Popcorn is mostly popped with oil, or tossed in butter, then sprinkled with salt. And now there are so many flavors, with seasonings and spices, drizzled chocolate, or sticky syrups. And sometimes even blends happen, such as sweet and salty to make kettle corn.

The most popular flavors are the classic salt and butter, cheese, and caramel.

Caramel is a good flavor for popcorn, but it is one of those things for which I need a special craving for it.

My favorite is a bucket of hot, freshly popped. I get it about half of the time when I go to the movie theater, and usually at least once during my Disneyland vacations.

Years ago, I used to get what was known as "pink popcorn" and it was a San Francisco confection. I would pick up a brick now and then from the drug store, where it was always available. But I hadn't seen it for a while, and wanted to find out what happened to Wright's Pink Popcorn. Unfortunately, it is no longer being made. And while I can get 'pink' popcorn, or other colors from candy stores, it will never be the same as getting a brick of it in a cellophane wrapper.
